What is Dot Day?
International Dot Day started with the book by Peter H. Reynolds
called, The Dot. The Dot started with a girl named Vashti who didn't know what to draw in art class. Her teacher told her to make a mark and then sign her name. The book takes off from there and shapes into a book that we love. It has encouraged many to try new things and use our unique qualitites to make a mark on the world. It started with what we know today as International Dot Day.
How Do I Connect?
If you go to the International Dot Day website you can fiind different ways to connect with others and participate on September 15.
Here's What We Did...
International Dot Day is a day where you make goals to make the world a better place. Our class is just one of the places that celebrated this spectacular day. There are people all over the world that participated in so many different ways. In our class we did lots of fun learning activities that caused us to think about our lives. We completed chanllenge dot games like dot to dot. We had a Dot Day Café with lots of round candies and foods. We even painted recycled lids. We painted the lids so that they showed a little bit about us, then we connected them to magnets. We hung them in our lockers as a reminder of how we each had unique gifts to share with those around us. We also wrote about what goals to set so we could make the world a more comfortable and better place to live in through our individual KidBlogs. We also tweeted using #DotDay and #MakeYourMark how we would make a mark on the world. Start participating in Dot Day to make your mark on the world.
