What Is Twitter?
Twitter is a social media network we love to use in our classroom. Ever heard of it? Well, if you have not here is what it is. Twitter is a great way to connect with others around the world. Many celebrities use it along with many other adults and teenagers to connect with friends. Each "Tweet" must be 140 characters or less. You can add pictures and videos too. Our teacher, Mrs.Ramsay, has one along with our principal and many other teachers. We tweet from a separate class account, @RamsaysClass.
How Do I Connect?
You can go to http://www.twitter.com or download the app on almost any tablet or phone. You sign up very easily, and start Tweeting! You can find and follow friends or meet new ones by going to Twitter. You should also encourage friends to get on Twitter for education if they do not already have one. You can find other classes to connect with on the Global Class Twitter page or through another project like the Global Read Aloud or quadblogging.
Here's What We Did...
Our classroom uses Twitter in many different ways. One thing we have done since the beginning of the school year is have each table Tweet something new that they've learned each day. We also enjoy Tweet Stories. With stories, we will be assigned genre such as sci-fi or romance and write a story that is 140 characters or less and includes all the elements of a story. That's challenging! Another thing we do is connect with other teachers. Sometimes we find great ideas from other teachers and their students! We also share what we are doing new that day. We also connect with our principal and invite him to come enjoy some of our activities with us. So, go get yourself a Twitter, now! Follow us @RamsaysClass.
